About Bagley Viewpoint

Breathtaking Views Just Waiting for You

From this peaceful lookout on North Capitol Hill, you can take in sweeping views of the SR 520 floating bridge stretching across Lake Washington, with the skyline of Bellevue rising in the distance. Bagley Viewpoint is one of those hidden Seattle escapes with some seriously impressive scenery.

When Seattle blesses us with one of its clear days, you can even spot the University of Washington stadium from here. The mature trees and thoughtfully placed bushes don't just frame the views beautifully - they create a tranquil green space that feels worlds away from city life.

A Piece of Seattle History

There's more to this spot than just pretty views. Bagley Viewpoint marks where Interlaken Boulevard originally began, a significant piece of the 1903 Olmsted Brothers masterplan that shaped Seattle's parks as we know them today.

Ever wonder about the name? The viewpoint honors H.B. Bagley, quite the Renaissance man of early Seattle - he worked as a homeopathic physician, directed a bank, and even served on the city council back in 1879-1880. He also played a key role in developing what eventually became the Lake Washington Ship Canal, helping shape the city's waterways as we know them today.

Plan Your Visit

Located in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood, this small but mighty park punches above its weight in terms of what it offers.

With its own parking lot (a rare find in Seattle!), it's ideal for a quick midday escape or a peaceful moment of reflection. Several benches provide comfortable spots to sit and soak in the panorama, but you should know that some viewing angles might be partially obscured by vegetation depending on the season. Still, finding your perfect view is part of the experience.
